Poke with a Fork: Muscle Activation
Dan John once said in a talk: “You can’t tell me if I stuck a fork in your leg during the bench press that you wouldn’t react.”
The idea is the leg drive, firing your lower body, DOES make a make a difference in the bench press by improving force production. I’ve also used a fork to poke the lats to encourage the pulling motion.
If you ARE using tension in your lower body, the fork won’t distract you. The body works best as one.
